Call for Perth and Kinross S1-S5 students to help plan our youth climate conference
Perth and Kinross Council are looking to host a youth climate conference in late October/early November 2022 to coincide with COP27. This will be directed at secondary school students who through inspiring talks, interactive workshops, and action planning, will gain a greater understanding of climate change and how to take climate action.
We are currently looking for a group of around 10 young people who are interested in climate action to inspire our youth conference agenda. Having a range of pupils from S1-S5 to consult us on our plans will help guide topics covered, inspiring workshops, and our climate action challenge.
Ideally, we would like to be in contact with this group of students online at least twice, once before the summer holidays (so we can commence planning over the summer) and once after the summer in the run up to the event.
We are looking to plan this conference for the benefit of our young people, so they become knowledgeable on climate change and confident in taking climate action themselves. It is imperative we consult with pupils at the planning stage to ensure we plan something specific to their interests, which will result in higher engagement levels.
This is a great opportunity for pupils to not only engage in climate change, but also be a part of planning a large event.
Any interested pupils who would like to be involved in helping to plan our youth climate conference can fill out the following online form. The deadline to apply is Friday 17th June.
If you have any queries, please get in touch via emailing [email protected].
