Dotted about Perth and Kinross, lie some beautiful church buildings that are home to congregations of varied sizes and traditions, and extend their welcome to many community groups. Churches traditionally were the community hubs of Scottish towns and villages, and this is often still the case today. However, for these buildings to remain part of Scotland’s present and future, a lot of work is needed to make them fit for purpose in a changing climate, and to minimise their environmental impact
Nature Market 2024
In June 2024, a summer market was held to celebrate how we can all help nature. Local businesses, community groups and charities hosted stalls to inspire positive action to support biodiversity. Local food, drink, books, plants and arts were available. There was a focus on nature, as this event was running in collaboration with the Tayside Biodiversity Festival. There were plenty of giveaways on the day, from seeds to homes for wildlife.

Tackling Invasive Species on the Almond
The River Almond Invasive Non-Native Species (INNS) project is an ambitious partnership project aiming to bring invasive species on the Almond under control to protect and preserve our native flora, riparian habitats and freshwater ecosystems. The primary focus of the project is the eradication of giant hogweed, but also covers American skunk cabbage, and Japanese knotweed.
WOW - THE WALK TO SCHOOL CHALLENGE
Did you know 14 schools within Perth and Kinross take part in the WOW walk to school challenge? Pupils (and their families) are encouraged to travel actively to school. For their efforts, pupils earn WOW badges at the end of the month for walking, wheeling, park and stride and scooting to school.
