Errol Village Nature Restoration Project

29th October, 2024

Carse of Gowrie Group (SCIO) & Friends of Cistern Green have been undertaking nature restoration across Errol, with support from PKC's Nature Restoration Fund.

The Errol Village Nature Restoration Project focuses on creating and enhancing meadow areas within Cistern Green and the North Errol Lea, providing a haven for local wildlife. This initiative includes the innovative use of re-used tyre planters along the central path, where wildflowers will greet visitors and extend the blooming season for pollinators through the planting of native flowering climbers and snowdrop bulbs.

Cistern Green was somewhat isolated, surrounded by arable fields. To combat this, volunteers connected the garden to the Errol Pow burn and the nearby woods along the Tay Estuary by planting native trees from the Woodland Trust. The North Errol Lea serves as a green corridor, facilitating wildlife movement along the north side of the village. As these habitats thrive, they will provide invaluable resources for wildlife and create a vibrant environment for residents and visitors alike.
