Comrie Croft Wild Connections

29th October, 2024

Comrie Croft has been undertaking nature restoration across their landholding, with support from PKC's Nature Restoration Fund.

Central to the project was the establishment of new woodlands and wildflower meadows, which serve as vital habitats for a range of species. By enhancing existing woodlands and promoting species diversity, the project contributes to a richer and more resilient natural environment.

In addition to habitat creation, efforts were made to remove invasive species, such as Sitka spruce, which can threaten native ecosystems. The removal of plastic tree tubes and redundant wire fencing further streamlined the landscape, allowing for more natural growth and movement of wildlife.

Connecting and enhancing woodland and meadow habitats plays a crucial role in creating corridors and stepping stones for wildlife. These pathways enable species to move more freely across the landscape, promoting genetic diversity and ensuring healthier populations.
