Climate Change Adaptation and damp in Traditional Buildings Delivered by Roger Curtis (Historic Environment Scotland)
This talk will outline the increased pressures on traditional and historic buildings in Scotland due to climate change; it will consider the need to manage water better on buildings and adjacent areas, as well as considerations on traditional materials and alterations that might be needed
Roger Curtis is a Chartered Building Surveyor experienced in the repair and conservation of a wide range of traditional and historic structures from bridges to harbours, castles and cathedrals. He was a site and project manager for seven years on sites all over Scotland where Roger managed teams of trades such as masons, slaters, joiners and specialist crafts such as stained glass. At Historic Environment Scotland Roger has advised the public and professionals on defects, repairs and alterations to traditional and historic buildings. Roger has worked with the Scottish Government on wider issues affecting the built environment including training, materials supply chain and sustainability. Roger represents HES nationally and internationally and maintains regular technical dialogues with Historic England and other conservation organisations.
